Boulder City, Nevada

Home to over 15,000 residents, Boulder City is a Clark County, Nevada city located about 26 miles southeast of Las Vegas. Despite its close proximity to The Entertainment Capital of the World, this community is one of two cities in the state that prohibits gambling. Boulder City maintains rigid control on growth, limiting building permits to only 120 per year for new constructions. Hotels are also restricted to contain no more than 35 rooms.

There are a variety of things to see or do when visiting Boulder City. The city has three golf courses, including Boulder Creek Golf Course and Bolder City Municipal Golf Course, and it is located only a few miles from Lake Mead. Boulder City is one of the closest communities to the Hoover Dam and visitors may also like to check out the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge or the Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum. Other notable attractions include the Nevada State Railroad Museum or Hemenway Park.

Whether you live in Boulder City or are visiting one of the major attractions in the area, it is important to prepare for the varied weather conditions experienced in the region. Summers are especially dangerous, as temperatures are extremely hot with daily highs often reaching over 100 degrees. It is also very dry, so residents will want to have a cool place to retreat, especially during the hottest afternoon hours. An energy efficient and reliable air conditioning unit is a necessity to make it through the summer months safely.

During the winter, average daily highs will reach the 50s or 60s, but overnight lows tend to fall close to freezing. Despite being part of a subtropical, hot desert climate zone, residents still need to have access to a heating system like a heat pump or furnace in order to stay comfortable. Regular tune-ups with an HVAC pro are also a necessity to ensure these systems are working at optimal efficiency.

The weather of Henderson is typical of the Mojave Desert – hot and arid. The summer months can be dangerously hot, with average daily highs in January reaching into triple digits. Even average lows only fall just below 80 degrees, so it is easy to see why a reliable air conditioning system is such a necessity. Visitors and residents alike – especially children, the elderly, and people with chronic medical conditions – need to have access to a cool place to escape the heat in order to stay healthy and safe. The right air conditioner can provide that safety, and a local HVAC specialist can keep it in proper working order.

The winter months in Henderson are mild and comfortable, although they are short. Average daily highs reach into the mid-50s, but overnight lows can fall into the 30s or 40s. Residents will still need to invest in a home heating system – either a heat pump or furnace – to use during these months, but by about April, they can be turned off for the season.
